No AC? Here’s What to Do Right Now

The hot temperatures are reaching most neighborhoods throughout the country this week, and it’s only going to get hotter. This means that you might have an interruption in your life that’s pretty serious if your air conditioner sputters out at the wrong time.

Planning on having company over for dinner? Or perhaps you’d just like to take it easy this weekend with a movie and some popcorn at home? Well, that’s going to be hard if temperatures are skyrocketing and you’ve got no way to stay cool inside.

But don’t worry, we are here to help! There’s a reason why we’re called 24Hr Home Comfort Services Inc. Follow our guide below and make sure you schedule air conditioning repair in Crystal Lake with the best team in the business.

Make Sure You Still Have Electricity

First things first, there’s something very important we need to cover. While AC problems are pretty synonymous with summertime heat, there’s something else that’s almost as common if not more—power outages.

Rainstorms and blistering heat can cause the power grid to come under a lot of stress, which can impact residential areas. Since your air conditioner relies on electricity, if the power goes out, so does your AC.

It’s first important to investigate whether your home has power at all if you notice that the AC is off. Maybe you detect the eery silence when there should be a low whir as the system runs. Regardless, if your power is out, you’ll need to consult with your power company and follow emergency outage guidelines.

Stay Cool

Your air conditioner is a valuable tool because it keeps you calm, cool, and collected when high temperatures threaten your livelihood. Without AC, how are you supposed to stay cool and calm?

Well, there are a few things you can do. Wear comfortable clothes like linen, loose fitting shirts, and give your body lots of room to sweat so you can cool down when temperatures get hot. Also, we’d advise running fans (especially ceiling fans) to help lower the ambient temperature of your home.

This should do the trick for now.

Stay Hydrated

Don’t forget to stay hydrated! It’s easy to forget when the last time you had a drink of water was, but the consequences could be very serious. Heat stroke can sneak up on people, and we’d rather all of our customers stay safe and secure no matter what the temperature is.

Drink plenty of water or make some yummy fruity drinks if you’d like to spice things up.

Now that you and your family are safe, cool, and sure you still have electricity, our team can start addressing the issue. Schedule repairs with us as quickly as you can. We’ll give you a timeline of when we can show up.
